Roxy MadSchool

Clive has been busy the last couple of weeks locked in rehearsals with Andy Mackay, Phil Manzanera and Paul Thompson all from Roxy Music! Andy has arranged a charity show in Devon with an all star lineup including Suggs from Madness, Clive and Clive’s fellow Deaf School members Miss Bette Bright and Enrico Cadillac Jr.

Clive commented: “Half of Deaf School play with half of Roxy Music plus the added bonus of Suggs from Madness. It’s a dream come true for us to be playing with our heroes, and probably the single most influential band in the formative years of DS!”.

The gig, at a small intimate venue, was fully subscribed before tickets could be made available, so unfortunately there are none for sale Deaf Schools website will be publishing pictures as soon as they are available.

2nd best British song ever!

Q Magazine has published in their April edition a list of its readers voted 50 Ultimate British Songs. ‘Ship Building’ written by Clive with Elvis Costello has come in at number two!

Although Elvis did release the song himself (Produced by Clive & Alan Winstanley on his Punch the Clock album) its Robert Wyatt’s version that was put forward by Brett Anderson the lead singer from Seude. Wyatt’s version is a co-production between Clive & Elvis Costello and has already received critical acclaim from the likes of David Bowie, John Peel and more.

Update

Things may have seemed quite here at langerwinstanley.com over the past few months, but in reality they have been anything but! Clive has now recorded a brand new mini-album with his seminal band Deaf School and is currently touring the UK (dates below) before heading to Japan for shows in Tokyo on the 19th and 20th of Feb.

You can buy the mini-album from the Deaf School site using this handy link.

Between all of that he has been busy in the studio finishing the new Eugene McGuinness album a co-production with Charlie Andrew.

Another of Clives recently reformed bands Deaf School are performing a couple of very special shows on the 17th of April in tribute of former singer Eric Shark (aka Sam Davis) who very sadly passed away on the 7th of January this year, the show is at the Everyman Theatre in Liverpool. Joining Deaf School will be Suggs, Kevin Rowland, Ian Broudie, Lee Thompson and Pete Wylie plus an extra special appearance by Deaf School original band member Paul Pilnick and, best of all, the lovely and talented Tina Sparkle! Man Like Clive

Following their sell out show at London infamous Jazz Cafe Man Like Me have hit the studio to work on the follow up to their self titled debut album with Clive Langer and, fellow Hannah Management producer , Charlie Andrew at the helm.

The album is due to drop later this year and will feature songs such as The Ex, Run Over and Why Bother. The band are headlining London’s Garage you can buy tickets here.
